AGM Minutes and Annual Accounts 2026
On Friday 9 October we held our Annual General Meeting. The AGM is our more formal meeting of the year as it's principal purpose is to sign off our annual accounts before they are submitted to the Charity Commission and to re-elect Trustees and our 'officers' (the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer). This year, our meeting competed with the Tewkesbury Mop Fair, meaning that attendance was limited to the Committee themselves, but we're publishing the Minutes and accounts here as it's important to be transparent.
One topic we discussed in the wake of the meeting was how to ensure that our membership, spread across the world, have their say. We'd like to think our membership are happy with the way we do business, but part of earning that trust is being ready to listen, and we can't expect folk to travel long distances to attend our meetings.
The Committee meets every other month, and we're always happy to consider matters raised by our members. If you ever have anything for us, please feel free to email on tbs@tewkesbury.org.uk and we'll make sure it's included on the agenda; indeed, if it's urgent, we'll deal with it out of Committee.
If you're local and fancy getting involved in running the Society (not an onerous job, but an important one to make sure we keep pursuing our objects), we'd love to hear from you. Many of the Committee have served for a long time which, although it speaks well for our being a friendly bunch, some fresh blood and new ideas would do no harm.
And as an antidote for all that formality, here's a 'keep the date' marker for your diary if you're within reach of Tewkesbury and fancy a social gathering. Our annual Xmas gathering - traditionally held after the holidays to avoid competing with other events - will be on Friday 15 January 2027 when we'll be heading for the Bluebell pub and Gurkha restaurant in Ryall for a meal. We'll canvass for attendees nearer the time, but hold the date if you'd like to join us.
In closing, thank you for your support throughout another successful year of protecting and promoting Tewkesbury Battlefield.
